Yale University claimed the top spot in this week’s USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association NCAA Division I Varsity Eight Coaches Poll, while Western Washington University and Trinity College topped the Division II and III polls, respectively.
In Division I, Yale University received 21 of 25 first-place votes to earn the No. 1 ranking this week. Brown University ranked second with one first-place vote, followed by Stanford University, University of Washington and University of California. Stanford received the other three first-place votes.
Four-time defending champion Western Washington was a unanimous choice for the top spot in the Division II poll, receiving all six first-place votes. Philadelphia University ranked second, while the University of California at San Diego ranked third.
Williams College received nine of 10 first-place votes to earn the top spot in the Division III poll. Williams won the Division III team title at last year’s NCAA Championships, while Trinity College won the eights race. Trinity ranked second with the other first-place vote, followed by Bates College, Ithaca College and the University of Puget Sound.
